Last week (April 5-12) the garden crew of Dana, Bernie, Andrew and Marissa planted the potatoes, yukina savoy, tat soi, bok choy, kale, borage, chard, endive, lettuce up the wazoo, mustards, parsley, sorrel, mache and spinaches! THIS WEEK the phases of the moon say TAKE A BREAK!!! For April 21, be ready to start your butternut squash, all your cukes and your summer squash (think yellow squash and zucchini) INDOORS, again, in Cowpots, so it’s easier to transplant them outdoors.
We actually had a crowd of people who DIDN’T already know Alexis and the Duck Truck! Even though our fair share of DTC fans turned up too! Thanks to Dana for her continuous every day support! And to Mima, Frank, and Amy for showing up! It was nice to have a little bit of a “set” audience, the Whole Foods staff and a woman who’s diving in to her first attempt at vermiculture. But it was also fun to cheerily greet any person whose eye I caught, while in the middle of whichever schpiel I was in. I did learn that I really do need to bring my Worm Bin every where I go! Thanks to Whole Foods Milford for inviting me!
The next few days it will be appropriate to get in your yukina savoy, bok choy, tatsoi, spinaches, lettuces, mache, endive, chard. So don’t just sit around after work! Get that garden thumpin’!
